Only two candidates Haroon Farooki of Businessmen Group (BMG) and Sultan Chawla of Businessmen Forum (BMF) are left in the run for the President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in the election scheduled for November 12, 2005

There were 10 candidates but on the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers, on November 8, eight candidates filed their withdrawals.

Those who have withdrawn are Wasiq Hussain Khan, Mohammed Arshad Jamal, Naveed Gul, Majyd Aziz, Anjum Nisar, Mohammed Salim Kapadia, Zakaria Usman and Mohammed Saleem A Sattar.

Election campaign is in full swing and both groups are holding meetings and contacting members to vote for their candidates. Both groups are claming that their candidate would win with a big margin.

The election has been necessitated due to resignation of Khalid Firoz. There is a case in the court on the president holding office for two years or one year.
